Central Permitting
The Central Permitting Department accepts and processes permit applications and schedules inspections for the Inspections Department, Planning Department, and Environmental Health. Central Permitting also processes payments for the Water/Sewer division of Public Utilities. Central Permitting Technicians are available from 8 am until 5 pm to assist citizens with the application submittal process. Please note the following:

Permit Applications are accepted by mail, email or through our online portal. Please note applications received after 4 pm will not be processed until the next business day.
- If you plan to visit our office for permitting, we ask that you arrive before 4 pm to allow enough time to process your application.
- For specific questions about wells, septic, pools, food, and tattoos, please visit the Environmental Health web page.
Please be advised that construction completed prior to obtaining the required permits may result in additional fees.
Inspections
Inspections are performed during various phases of construction. Our inspectors verify work is completed according to state code requirements for building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades.
Inspections can be scheduled through our online portal or by emailing [email protected]. Please note that inspections are conducted based on inspector availability on a day-to-day basis. If you have an inspection that needs to be completed on a certain day and/or time, please call the office at 336-342-8130 (option 1) to coordinate with the Chief Inspector prior to the inspection date.
